Venture Global and Italy’s Edison reached a settlement on March 27th, resolving an arbitration case concerning Venture Global’s failure to deliver LNG cargoes from its Calcasieu Pass plant. The agreement, expected to close before the end of the second quarter, includes additional cargo deliveries to Edison beyond the original contract terms. First shipments to Italy’s Adriatic LNG terminal are anticipated in May 2026.
This settlement arrives at a crucial time for Edison and the European market, as companies seek alternative supply sources following QatarEnergy’s force majeure declaration due to attacks on its Ras Laffan Industrial Complex. Venture Global has been actively resolving similar disputes, recently winning arbitration cases against Repsol and Shell, while losing a case against BP, which is now seeking substantial damages.
Additionally, Venture Global settled with Unipec in October over failed deliveries and remains in one ongoing arbitration case with Polish firm Orlen. These resolutions demonstrate Venture Global’s efforts to stabilize its LNG supply commitments amidst fluctuating global energy demands and geopolitical challenges.
