California AG Announces $7M Settlement in ‘Algorithmic Rent Scheme’

Insurance Journal
A property management company has agreed to pay $7 million to settle allegations of an algorithmic rent scheme.

Summary

California Attorney General Rob Bonta announced a $7 million settlement with property management company LivCor LLC. The settlement resolves allegations that LivCor used RealPage’s revenue management system to illegally share and gather confidential pricing information to align rental prices with competitors. This conduct allegedly interfered with the competitive process and allowed landlords to keep prices higher. LivCor managed 57 multifamily rental properties in California that used the software. The settlement requires LivCor to pay $7 million in penalties and fees to the states and prohibits it from using software that uses competitively sensitive information to align rent prices. LivCor also agreed to cooperate in the ongoing prosecution of RealPage and other defendant landlords. This is the second settlement in this litigation, following a November 2025 agreement with Greystar.
