YouTube TV: Californian Subscribers Eligible For $92 Cash Payout Over Auto-Renewal Settlement

The Sunday Guardian
Google agreed to a $7.5 million settlement, allowing eligible California YouTube TV subscribers to claim about $92 each before August 2026.

Summary

Google has agreed to pay $7.5 million to resolve a class action alleging that YouTube TV failed to disclose the terms of its automatically renewing subscriptions to California customers. The settlement allows eligible subscribers to claim an estimated $92 cash payment before the end of the month, though the payment will be issued only after court approval and the end of any appeals period.

Eligibility is limited to California residents who paid for at least one YouTube TV renewal between February 2017 and October 2021. Class members have until 30 August 2026 to file a claim, and payments will be distributed after the settlement receives final court approval.

A separate $50 million settlement with Disney also offers compensation to streaming subscribers, including YouTube TV users, for alleged price‑inflating bundling practices. Subscribers who meet the criteria for both settlements may file claims under each, but must meet each settlement’s specific requirements and submit paperwork before the respective deadlines.
