Lawsuit claims Mercedes AMG seat logo caused burns, branded drivers

Live 5 News WCSC
Two drivers filed a class action lawsuit alleging Mercedes AMG seat logos cause thermal burns and branding.

Summary

Two drivers, Gabriel Lahijani and Karendeep “Karina” Bath, have filed a class action lawsuit against Mercedes-Benz in California. The plaintiffs allege that the raised metallic AMG logo on the driver's seats of certain Mercedes AMG vehicles is a design defect that causes thermal contact burns to occupants' backs, necks, or shoulders.

Lahijani reported receiving second-degree burns on his back after entering his 2026 Mercedes-AMG E-Class, with a dermatologist describing the injury as "AMG inscribed." Bath reported similar injuries to her shoulder after returning to her vehicle. The lawsuit seeks compensation for medical expenses, pain, suffering, and emotional distress, and requests that Mercedes-Benz pay to have the logos removed from other vehicles.

This legal action follows a previous settlement in which Mercedes-Benz USA and Daimler AG agreed to pay $149.6 million to resolve allegations regarding emissions-testing software in diesel vehicles.
