The case dates back to 2003, with the High Court initially ruling in Semantan's favor in 2009, but later appellate decisions limited the company's entitlement to land title, ultimately awarding adequate compensation based on 1956 land value and ordering an assessment of mesne profits. The Court of Appeal's June 2025 decision remains in effect, and the assessment proceedings are ongoing before High Court judge Ahmad Shahrir Salleh, with the next hearing scheduled for August 21.
