Appasia Files RM1.04 Million Lawsuit Over KL Football Association Player Salary Loan

Fintech News Malaysia
Appasia Capital sues KLFA officials for RM1.04 million loan used to pay 2022 player salaries, with a hearing set for September 2026.

Summary

Appasia Capital has filed a civil lawsuit against eight Kuala Lumpur Football Association (KLFA) office bearers, seeking RM1,044,283.35 in repayment for an alleged RM1 million loan provided in 2022 to cover player salaries. The defendants, including former president Khalid Samad and representatives Toh Hong Chye and Stanley Bernard Stephen Samuel, have applied to strike out the case, arguing the loan predates their tenure and that Appasia should have pursued legal action against the individuals directly. The suit, filed on 16 May 2025, also includes an alternative claim for restitution of RM960,000 with 18% annual interest from January 2025. The case is scheduled for a hearing before Judicial Commissioner Marianne Antoinette Ghani on 17 September 2026.
