Nuance Communications has reached an $8.5 million settlement in a class action lawsuit stemming from a data breach that occurred between May 27 and May 31, 2023, affecting individuals whose personal information was compromised through the MOVEit file transfer software. The lawsuit alleged that Nuance failed to implement adequate cybersecurity measures and provide timely breach notifications. Individuals who received a data breach notification from Nuance Communications are eligible to claim reimbursement for losses, up to $2,500 for ordinary losses and $10,000 for extraordinary losses, or a $100 cash payment. All class members are also entitled to two years of credit monitoring and identity theft protection services. The deadline to file a claim is December 24, 2025, and the final approval hearing is scheduled for March 31, 2026.
