AT&T Data Breach Settlement Claim Deadline Extended

Techrepublic
The deadline to file a claim in the $177 million AT&T data breach settlement has been extended to December 18th.

Summary

AT&T has extended the deadline for claims in a $177 million class action settlement resulting from two data breaches in 2024 that exposed the information of over 51 million customers. The first breach, disclosed on March 30th, involved sensitive data like Social Security numbers, while the second, on July 12th, involved call and text records. AT&T denies wrongdoing but agreed to the settlement to avoid litigation.

The settlement fund of $177 million is divided between the two breach groups, with $149 million allocated to the first group and $28 million to the second. Affected customers can claim up to $5,000 or $2,500 respectively, or opt for a pro rata payment.

Eligible customers, who must have received a notice with a unique ID, can file claims online through the official settlement administrator’s portal or by mail, with the new deadline being December 18th. Customers are advised to avoid third-party websites and use only the official administrator for claim submissions and information.
