Trump Aide Ditches Lawsuit Without Handing Over Tax Returns

The Daily Beast
Chris LaCivita, Trump’s 2024 campaign manager, dropped his lawsuit against The Daily Beast without disclosing his tax returns or receiving any concessions.

Summary

Donald Trump’s 2024 campaign manager, Chris LaCivita, dismissed his lawsuit against The Daily Beast without providing discovery documents, including his tax returns, despite initially seeking significant damages. The suit stemmed from a Daily Beast report detailing financial flows through LaCivita’s firm while he managed Trump’s campaign. LaCivita had publicly hyped the lawsuit, but settled on the eve of a federal holiday with no retraction, apology, or payment from The Daily Beast.

The Republican National Committee (RNC) funded LaCivita’s legal defense with over $650,000, engaging Mark Geragos, an attorney with a diverse client history. The Daily Beast had planned to subpoena numerous individuals, including Susie Wiles and potentially even Donald Trump himself, seeking details of LaCivita’s finances and business dealings. The settlement prevented these subpoenas from being issued.

Since the campaign, LaCivita has secured various advisory and consulting roles, including with Warner Brothers Discovery, a cryptocurrency firm, and political campaigns both domestically and internationally, while his daughter and son have also attained positions within the White House and the lobbying industry, respectively. Despite claiming a win, LaCivita received none of his demanded concessions, and The Daily Beast maintained the accuracy of its reporting.
