Dollar General Shoppers Maybe Eligible To Receive $10 As Part Of $15 Million 'Deceptive' Pricing Class Ac

Dollar General will pay $15 million in a settlement to shoppers who were charged incorrect prices at checkout.

Summary

Dollar General has agreed to a $15 million settlement regarding claims of “deceptive” pricing practices at its over 20,000 stores nationwide. The lawsuit alleged that customers were sometimes charged prices at the register that differed from the advertised shelf prices. Consumers who shopped at Dollar General between October 10, 2016, and November 19, 2025, and experienced a pricing discrepancy may be eligible for compensation.

Eligible customers can claim $10, or the amount of the overcharge (whichever is greater) per documented error, up to a maximum of $20 per household. Alternatively, class members can opt for a one-time $3 in-store discount on purchases of $10 or more during a future two-day promotional period. Dollar General will also implement measures to improve pricing accuracy, including third-party audits, but maintains it has not admitted any wrongdoing.

Despite the news, Dollar General’s stock experienced a slight dip on Thursday before recovering overnight. Analysts remain optimistic about the stock, with Morgan Stanley recently raising its price target to $160.
