Kaduna State Resumes Major Road Construction Projects in Rigasa After Compensation Settlement - Blueprint Newspapers Limited
Summary
The Kaduna State Government has restarted work on key road projects in Rigasa, Igabi Local Government Area, following the completion of compensation payments to 189 households. Dr. Abdullahi Baba Ahmed, Managing Director of the Kaduna Roads Agency (KADRA), confirmed that Governor Uba Sani directed full compensation for affected property owners and that the contractor, CCECC, has been fully mobilized. The resumption was previously hindered by property compensation and the relocation of utilities, which have now been resolved.
These projects are part of a larger initiative encompassing 140 road projects across Kaduna State, with 66 already completed. Significant progress is also being made on the Kabala-Constain – Aliyu Makama Bridge, now 65% complete, and the Zangon to Ashibin Yara road reconstruction, which aims to boost commercial activity and ease transportation.
Community leaders and residents have expressed strong support for the infrastructure improvements, anticipating economic growth, reduced post-harvest losses, and job creation. The government is committed to completing all initiated projects and delivering lasting infrastructure for the benefit of the state’s citizens, targeting 1,335 kilometers of road construction and rehabilitation.
