Target Corp. has agreed to a $4.6 million settlement resolving a class-action lawsuit filed by employees regarding unpaid wages. The lawsuit centered on claims that workers at Target’s New Jersey distribution centers were not fully compensated for time spent walking to and from their shifts. While Target denied any wrongdoing, they opted to settle the case to avoid a prolonged legal battle. Approximately 13,700 hourly, non-exempt employees who worked at the New Jersey distribution centers on or after August 6, 2019, are eligible for payments, which will be calculated based on their payroll records. Attorney Charles J. Kocher described the compensation as “significant” and offering meaningful relief to the affected workers.
